Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) was a revolutionary force in the world of professional wrestling throughout the 1990s. Formed in 1992 by owner Tod Gordon, ECW originally belonged to the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) but withdrew after eclipsing the staid matches of rival members World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW).
